Modulator Induced Formation of a Neutral Framework Based on Trinuclear Cobalt(II) Clusters and Nitrilotribenzoic Acid: Synthesis, Magnetism, and Sorption Properties

The solvothermal reaction of cobalt(II) chloride and 4,4′,4′′-nitrilotribenzoic acid (H3ntb) in dmf employing a modulator based approach leads to the formation neutral framework with formula [Co9(ntb)6(solv)12]n (JUMP-3). Different mono- dicarboxylic acids such as benzoic, phthalic, isophthalic, acetic could be used appropriate trigger toward framework. X-ray crystallography revealed three-dimensional network composed linear trinuclear units metal nodes triarylamine linkers. topological analysis showed that adopts 3,6-coordinated net 3,6T80 topology. Magnetic measurements performed temperature range 2–300 K indicate antiferromagnetic interactions between ions within its clusters. N2 sorption properties were investigated show presence micropores, which is consistent 1D channels crystal structure JUMP-3.
